Not to be outdone by the Soda thread...
Share 'em, guys. What drink do you enjoy destroying best? Doesn't matter how classy or trashy (sincerely).
For me: red wine, dry. Spanish, Italian, Georgian stuff is best. Doesn't even have to be expensive, table wine will do. New World varieties need not apply.

I love a good brown ale. There's some really nice regional ales here, but I still like Newcastle Brown even though it's a bit cheap. Porters are nice as well, and I'll never turn down a chance for a well pulled Guinness. Never been all that in to cider.
For whiskey I like Southern Comfort, and since it's that time of the year some sloe gin warms you up from the inside out. This thread also reminded me to get some port.

I am not much of a drinker and any drinks I do have need to disguise the alcohol flavor lol (Only 21 and shots are way behind me, never again), so I usually do mixed drinks or like an expresso martini if I'm out to eat with friends I recently had these drinks a friend brought over from Mexico , and even though the can looks like a cleaning product they were so good and I wish I could get them here. Could make my own but it's more convenient to just grab a can

No more straight hard liqour for me as well, ive had enough times of getting absolutely sick from it + some partying lol Mixed drinks tend to be my favorite also. honestly not sure I have a like all time favorite. since I typically only drink when I go out late I was always a fan of vodka red bulls to keep the steam going lol. One of my favorite drinks is a local apple pie cidar, it is absolutely delicious. If you're ever in tampa check out cigar city. It tastes like the apple and they even have the buttery crust taste with it too.
Most of the time I tend to drink hard seltzers. Just easier on my body lol

How quaint, I'm almost imagining it done while you wear a old-timey nightgown and nightcap like in cartoons In front of a fire down to it's final embers. A clock chimes on the mantelpiece. 'My word, is that the time?' I say as I rise heavily from the comfortable chair. 'Looks to be a cold night. I should bank the stove up for the morning...' I put out the candles, and go to bed.

To me it tasted a bit like Appletiser, if that means anything to you?

I quit drinking for good earlier this year, but my go-to was always a vodka cran because I'm so simple lmao. Otherwise, if it were an occasion that isn't partying/bar hopping, I'd always elect for a Bloody Mary or Caesar.
lately, as it's been getting colder, I've been REALLY craving a hot toddy lmao

Amaretto my beloved. Oh how I love you. It's the only one I can just drink straight.

Respect on this, I'm the same way. I LOVE a Spanish or Italian wine, also have a soft spot for a drier Riesling. I used to be pretty big on cocktails and liquor but not as much anymore; I don't go out to drink that much and I have too many expensive hobbies to keep a home bar well-stocked for what I like.
My favorite cocktails when I used to make them a lot were: - Cameron's Ferrari: A GREAT gin and campari cocktail, awesome for someone who maybe can't handle the full campari bitterness - Caipirinha and it's varieties: I probably made mostly Caipiroskas where you substitute the cachaça for vodka - Manhattan: A classic, I like it up - Juan Collins: Tom Collins but made with a reposado or añejo tequila and demerara syrup, basically alcoholic panera lemonade if made right

I don't know what it is, even the cheapest Euro table wine will taste better than, say, a "good" and pricey American or Australian wine. It's almost like... hm, like the New World wines have some flavor additives, added to them. I'd liken it to a fake wood or smoke flavor, as though added in to create "fake" complexity? It's hard to say, but I perceive it and it's entirely unpleasant and off-putting to me.
The one exception (sometimes) are certain Argentine Malbecs, and are tolerable for this alone, but still not my regular "go-to".

I know what you're talking about lol. For me a big part besides taste is also the presentation of the bottle just always seems to be better when it's coming from Europe. It's not a universal truth, but European bottles seem like they have so much more respect for the craft, tradition, and product compared to American bottles especially. It doesn't make any difference in taste obviously, but it does make me way more inclined to buy one bottle over another.
