This thread will serve as a gallery for my furry liminal space art! THIS POST WILL BE LONG!
Feel free to share your art as well if it falls into a similar genre!!!!!!!!
I've been making liminal space art for a long time now. I've always had a distorted sense of reality thanks to maladaptive daydreaming throughout my childhood, and I've never felt quite human. So both furries/monsters and liminal spaces are subjects I find myself coming back to over and over again. A lot of these double as color/lighting studies referenced from photographs, so props if you can identify the originals!
As a warning, some of these tread into horror territory, but there is no gore! Just unsettling silhouettes
These first 6 are part of a series titled THE SYMBOLIC, THE SENSORY, & THE AUTISTIC
Most of the the rest are one off drawings!
WILD ANIMAL / USEFUL CITIZEN
THE SHADE
MANSIONS NO ONE WANTS TO BUY FOR ANY PRICE
MI CAPITÁN
Thanks if you scrolled this far!!! :'3

I love vaporwavey stuff and your choice of pool liminal settings work both with your inflatable chara and the isolation concept, albeit in a little more relaxed sense compared to the empty buildings and foggy parking lots otherwise used for this genre.
Also you rendered water surface so beautifully! I love the colour palette in the first one.

I remember seeing your art I think somewhere on tumblr (i may be wrong) a while back, and it really inspired me. I liked your combo of pooltoy and poolrooms, the two go so well together. Poolrooms have always brought me a lot of comfort, and you capture the vibe really well in your work. heres one of my liminal works as well!

oooh your background work is simply wonderful! ive always loved the vibe of liminal spaces and you pulled that feeling off so well ^^ THANK YOU!!! I never used to draw backgrounds before I started working on this series, so its been a big help in that regard :'] I love vaporwavey stuff and your choice of pool liminal settings work both with your inflatable chara and the isolation concept, albeit in a little more relaxed sense compared to the empty buildings and foggy parking lots otherwise used for this genre. Also you rendered water surface so beautifully! I love the colour palette in the first one. The fun thing about liminal spaces is that they can be both creepy and nostalgic, both unsettling and comfortable, sometimes at once!! Thank you so much! Honestly the water is done with a sort of trick to give it the illusion of more detail than it has- the water itself is a scribbly gradient, and the rings on top are just white ovals with thinner white ovals inside them :'3 I'm in love with your more loose brushstrokes, and honestly I can't stop staring at MI CAPITÁN. YOUR STUFF IS SO GOOD!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH, I used to draw with very clean perfectionist lineart, clean colors, and detailed cel shading. I could spend up to 8-10 hours on a piece that didn't even have a background, just a character drawing. I kept at it because those were the type of commissions that people wanted to buy, but eventually I started to realize that I was choking the creativity out of myself, and I pivoted to real scratchy/sketchy stuff. I still have to stop myself from over-cleaning my work sometimes These are incredible! The backgrounds omg *_* you really set the vibe for all the scenes THANK YOU!!! Vibes based artwork is always the goal!! Evokes a feeling even if the scene itself doesnt make logical sense I remember seeing your art I think somewhere on tumblr (i may be wrong) a while back, and it really inspired me. I liked your combo of pooltoy and poolrooms, the two go so well together. Poolrooms have always brought me a lot of comfort, and you capture the vibe really well in your work. heres one of my liminal works as well! OMG!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!! Yes you def saw me on tumblr, tumblr has been my haven for the past 11 years lol! Wow this artwork is so beautiful, the character's mossy palette goes so well with the cool bluish silvers of the poolrooms. Small detail but the gold necklace and striking blue eyes make for really good contrast. And I love that the windows & doorway are so bright that you cant see anything beyond their thresholds, makes the rooms feel simultaneously infinite but also a bit claustrophobic, just like a liminal space is meant to feel These are all really wonderful!!! Thank you so much!!!!

Thank you so much, I wish that too, I'd love to be able to take a break from reality and just wander around the poolrooms for a couple weeks!!! I've been a tumblr regular for the last 11 or 12 years, so I def got some inspiration from over there lol

hi stranger i love your art i really really do want to make some liminal space artwork of my own. i greatly admire you for making this series and breaking the mold that furry art as a genre has been in for such a long time- overly literal and exclusively character detail focused. nothing inherently wrong with it at all, but i love seeing deviations from it. i really want to do a liminal art series of my own that blends my irl photography with art of my cat fursona.
