Who else here has an interest, either as an outsider or insider, in various occult practices?
For myself I've been reading Tarot for about 20 years now, and have been an Aquarian deck loyalist for all that time. I learned on a RWS but I never really felt it, and when I found an old Aquarian deck at a carboot sale, I knew instantly that there couldn't be any other.
Inspired by Alan Moore I've been trying to consider my writing to be just another magical practise, to try and consider it in terms of 'casting a spell' on the reader.

I’m a very casual enjoyer of tarot, I do a morning readings for myself and sometimes when I find that I need deeper guidance I’ll consult my deck.
It’s super interesting what you’re saying about writing and spell casting, I’ve never heard of the two being intertwined like that. That’s super interesting to me, is it similar to hypnosis in how it works?

i was raised pagan/wiccan by my mom and incorporate a lot of that into my Satanic + demonolatry practices today. i've been doing tarot since i was a kid and i've also been really interested in getting into crystal ball scrying since i got my mom's crystal ball after she converted

I have a passing interest in all that metaphysical stuff, mostly through an interest in alchemy and symbology. I think a lot of my Tarot fixation probably came from playing the Persona games.

recently i got some really cool decks from my grandfather's wife, a friend of hers passed away and she was huge into witchcraft. lots of neat decks from the 60's and 70's. the aquarian deck is beautiful =]

I’m a very casual enjoyer of tarot, I do a morning readings for myself and sometimes when I find that I need deeper guidance I’ll consult my deck. Same here. I bought my house based on a reading. Nothing that complex. Moore's thinking is, when stripped of all the hokum Magic is just changes of consciousness. It was mostly about mindset, to stop yourself thinking as an entertainer and start thinking of yourself more as a shaman/shamanka. Words are power in this, which is why Crowley (probably taking it from someone else) said the most powerful magical grimoire (grammar. It's a spell book) is an etymological dictionary.
i was raised pagan/wiccan by my mom and incorporate a lot of that into my Satanic + demonolatry practices today. It must be very different to be raised in the tradition (a bit of a pretentious word to use, I know) and coming in to it as a teen or adult. You must have had a lot of phaselings, who come in and then go just as quickly? [/div][/quote] Very interesting. Also, 'converted'? You mean she became Christian?
I have a passing interest in all that metaphysical stuff, mostly through an interest in alchemy and symbology. I think a lot of my Tarot fixation probably came from playing the Persona games. I think this is the case for a lot of people. I've always felt the (for lack of a better word) lack of a spiritual dimension in society at the moment is responsible for a lot of the ills. There needs to be an acknowledgement of the spirit. Persona probably did more to re-popularise Tarot and Jungian thinking than any single modern piece of art, though my interest was sparked by watching the old Merlin miniseries staring Sam Neill. At the end he says 'That's the end of magic,' and I was hearbroken even as a young boy.

And yes, it is a beautiful piece of art (could even, in the magical context, capitalise it as Art). As soon as I saw it I knew it was 'the one' for me.
I didn't expect so many people to reply. Looks like we've just started the FURmetic PAWder of the Golden Fawn. ... I'll show myself out...

I'm starting to get into it, but I'm very much still new to it all! I love herbs, crystals, and tarot mostlt. I have a lovely druid coven I celebrate sabbaths with, though admittedly I've been neglecting my own solitary practice... '^^

And yeah, having a real-life community is important to this, otherwise you'll drive yourself mad.

I've been practicing something you'd call manifestation for the better part of my life but only recently I've read some literature in it and started to do deliberate practices and meditations. I don't know how it works but it works. 😁

I don't know how it works but it works. 😁 Finding out how it works is the best part, imo. Especially in regards to mediation, where there's actually been scientific studies on the mind during deep meditation. And speaking of literature, what was your first gateway book? For me it was Colin Wilson's The Occult.

i have on and off for several years now, but i am very bad at maintaining new habits. i've recently been testing the water with the labyrinthos app, though.
i have, however, enjoyed collecting tarot & oracle decks and crystals the entire time.
i think it's just hard for me to practice on my own. i'm not super good at finding the time to read anymore to learn about different crafts, paths, etc.

Good ones, not quite so easy Time is one of the hardest things, especially with something like this where the entire culture sees it as 'useless' before you even start. I've really fallen off the wagon with a lot of better habits I formed during the three months I didn't have home internet at all. That was a bit extreme, and basically impossible for a lot of people, but it was a nice break, and I did a lot of reading in that time. Do you arrange your crystals on an alter, or are they 'scattered' around?

And speaking of literature, what was your first gateway book? For me it was Colin Wilson's The Occult. I usually read several books at the same time. Picking references in one book, starting to read the referenced books while continuing the previous one, and so on. It was a combination of James Altucher "Choose yourself", "The Gifts of Imperfection" by Brené Brown, and "Mind Power. Subconscious Mind Can Do Anything" by John Kehoe which I didn't finish because it's too corny lol. I also read "The secret", maybe 20 years ago, it is also about manifestation, but i don't really remember anything specific from that book.

I've been practicing Hellenic Polytheism for about 2 years now, and trying to incorporate tarot as a way for divination and occasional check-ins! I don't know much stuff by heart so I'm constantly flipping through texts to discern meaning but leaning into my intuition has done wonders for grounding myself!
