i have on and off for several years now, but i am very bad at maintaining new habits. i've recently been testing the water with the labyrinthos app, though.
i have, however, enjoyed collecting tarot & oracle decks and crystals the entire time.
i think it's just hard for me to practice on my own. i'm not super good at finding the time to read anymore to learn about different crafts, paths, etc. I'm great at forming new habits! ...If they're bad ones. Good ones, not quite so easy Time is one of the hardest things, especially with something like this where the entire culture sees it as 'useless' before you even start. I've really fallen off the wagon with a lot of better habits I formed during the three months I didn't have home internet at all. That was a bit extreme, and basically impossible for a lot of people, but it was a nice break, and I did a lot of reading in that time. Do you arrange your crystals on an alter, or are they 'scattered' around? i am 100% a total scatterer. trinkets and shiny rocks live everywhere around me. i really want to get some shelving up on my walls to give them more of a true home, though. i doubt there won't be some still scattered, though LOL

It was a combination of James Altucher "Choose yourself", "The Gifts of Imperfection" by Brené Brown, and "Mind Power. Subconscious Mind Can Do Anything" by John Kehoe which I didn't finish because it's too corny lol. Yeah, there's a real cheesy self-help element just as much a kinda deranged element (see: Robert Anton Wilson). I've always found Alan Watts kinda bad for that stuff. 'Imagine for a moment a fish driving a car.' Dude, shut up. lol A really good intro, which is actually a new release is The Moon and Serpent Bumper Book of Magic, which is an introductory work in the form of a children's activity book (though it's NOT for kids, so keep it out of the hands of little ones) and is absolutely lavish with art and information.
I've been practicing Hellenic Polytheism for about 2 years now, and trying to incorporate tarot as a way for divination and occasional check-ins! I don't know much stuff by heart so I'm constantly flipping through texts to discern meaning but leaning into my intuition has done wonders for grounding myself! People really over-complicate Tarot. Cards in the RWS tradition are a bit heavy. That's kinda why I'd recommend (speaking from experience) starting with a Marseilles deck where it's more element + number. So, for example, the five of swords. Five is the number of change, and the sword is the element air, and represents intelligence or thought. The RWS attributes all sorts of other things that just get in the way for a learner. Once you get what the numbers mean, and what the suits mean, it's just a matter of suit + number. - Coins/Pentacles = Earth/The world of every day life.
- Cups = Water/Emotions and feelings.
- Swords = Air/Intellect and logic
- Wands = Fire/Will and determination
I could go through all the numbers, but I think that's all for now. Don't worry about the court cards for now either, since they are a bit of a thorn in many tarotist's side. If you want to learn, try just using a single suit with the number cards only, and lay a single card down, and consider it until it becomes natural and nine of cups (water/emotion + Ending (but not THE END)) isn't this long definition you read in a book and you're trying to bring to mind, all while trying to relate it to the other however-many cards you have drawn. (Yeah, there's more to it than this, but I'm trying to keep it simple).
i am 100% a total scatterer. trinkets and shiny rocks live everywhere around me. i really want to get some shelving up on my walls to give them more of a true home, though. i doubt there won't be some still scattered, though LOL I've got an altar for my main things, but various books, stones, etc. end up everywhere no matter how much I try and keep some sort of sense to them. **EDIT** Forgot to reply. Ah I see, very interesting! thank you for sharing :3 One thing I forgot to mention was how this is backed up. Many Gods of magic are also the gods of writing, such as Odin.

So I was thinking today of something that could be done with this subject that allows for some more interactivity from people, and I thought maybe we could have a weekly discussion subject, where people interested can chime in with questions or their own ideas, and others can talk of their experiences, etc.
Nothing highly complex, and nothing too focused either. Since we had a very emotional week with this forum coming online, perhaps we can start the weekly discussion on the general suit of Cups (the element of water, and representing emotions)? If anyone has any other ideas for something of this nature, we can talk it out.
Hopefully this is a worthy enough reason to self-bump the thread.
