Any recent games on your favourites list?

I really wanna try Rain World, i’ve heard good things!

I have negative time for hobbies these last couple years so I’ve only played 2 games, Nier: Replicant and Cattails: Wildwood Story but they’ve been fun!

Tiny list of games that changed my life, they aren't the most unknown and (thanfully) gotten a lot of traction this year!

Disco Elysium. This game is best experienced blind, completely blind. The only turn off about it is that it contains heavy political themes, but there's no other game with such a solid artistic direction and writing and it lowkey changed by whole artistic taste.

Cruelty Squad. Talking about uniqueness, I truly believe cruelty squad is a gamedev gem. It's definitely not for everyone (epilepsy warning) and it did take a few tries for me to get in, but ever since i got in it, I feel like my neurons have been permanently rearranged

Dawntide. Yes, it's incomplete, yes there are some typos, but it's such a unique breath of fresh air in the space of furry visual novels, the setting, plot, and by God the engraving art style is so unique and bright. It might just completely change my artistic direction for 2025.

Steve Jackson's Sorcery!. I am currently playing it so I can't give a full review but if you're into fantasy themes and visual novels, it was based on a CYOA book series (with the same name) made before the generic tolkien fantasy tropes became mainstream and creates a very unique universe!

Corekeeper got it's big 1.0 update this year and ITS BEEN SO MUCH FUN!!! I can't recommend it enough!!! Fields of Mistria has also been a fun & cozy game to watch grow from it's early access release :33

Fantasy Life & Rune Factory have been childhood favorites of mine, so I'm also so so so excited for their new games coming out soon x3

Been playing alot of Fortnite lately. I'm god awful at it but it's still very fun, love hitting the griddy on the poor sods I do manage to eliminate.

A wonderful topic

I will cheat and will pick several, but I guess there's a certain vibe among all of them.

Outer Wilds is fantastic. Made me scratch my head at times and I won't forget Dark Bramble for a while. It's hard to talk about this game without spoilers but I've been nagging my friends to play it. I can't even formulate why it's awesome beyond the simple "it's melancholic but in a good way", I straight up want to stand up and look into a wall pensively.

From the lesser known but still somewhat known titles, basically all the games made by Project Moon - Library of Ruina (my personal favorite, even if I suck at deckbuilding), Lobotomy Corporation and Limbus Company. It's hard to recommend to buy these games (aside from Limbus, which is f2p), but the writing in those games is genuinely one of the best. If you can get through one billion difficulty cliffs (aside from Limbus that only has difficulty hills, overall very simple), the message of the game - how to find the strength to move onward in the world that sucks - and the mature way in which it is discussed, the overall weight and respect with which the struggle and suffering of the characters is handled, especially in the world that's probably one of the best dystopias (because it's a caricature of the modern world, where everything is taken into extreme), it all builds into this very special kind of feeling. These games will break you emotionally (in part due to the difficulty), but. Again, I have to look at the wall silently.

On the lesser known side, at least in my opinion, is Book of Hours by Weather Factory. They made Cultist Simulator, which... had a cool story, but was hell to play through. And I believe the creator of BoH also wrote Fallen London and Sunless Sea. To me, it's a very chill game with a very, very cool atmosphere. I mean, you're a new librarian of an arcane castle-library in god knows where, British Isles. For me, the best part of BoH is the same as Cultist Sim - you have to learn their magical system through a billion clues that you won't ever be sure how to put together. It's a big puzzle. Unlike CS, it's much, much more forgiving. It also has like, a whole castle for you to explore, and it's beautiful. Definitely left an impression.

Another lesser known title(s) (I promise this is the last one, this is such a long reply already) would be Lunacid (and another game by the same developer, Dread Delusion). It plays fantastically well, and if you ever have a craving for a game that feels like a retro dungeon crawler/rpg (without horrible QoL), definitely check these out. After finishing Lunacid I felt very empty, because I couldn't find anything to replace it. Nothing gave the same vibes, I guess

ooo a chance to talk about a favorite!

I'm super obsessed with subnautica. it combines some of my favorite things: underwater environments, speculative biology, sci fi, horror, and awesome world building! the series as a whole is something I super love, even though below zero didn't capture the same feeling the original had, it was a fun addition to the series! I'm also super hyped for subnautica two, and I freaked out when I saw the trailer on YouTube

the fact you can enjoy the game in so many ways, whether it be the overarching story of what happened before your arrival, the game play itself, the horror, all of it is so so cool! all the details with each individual aquatic species you find on planet 4546B makes me so happy

The silent hill 2 remake is great! I'm so happy it came out good and looking forward to getting all the endings when I have the time. Thank you bloober team!!!
