Played Koudelka on the PS1 a few months back and holy moly I've been in love with it ever since. Gave it a try since I really enjoyed Shadow Hearts 1 and 2. (Which are essentially spiritual sequels to Koudelka) Can't believe I almost skipped over it entirely. The combat is the game's weakest point for sure. That's not to say it's bad, it's perfectly functional if a little slow. Everything else about it is so freakin good though, it makes it all worth it. The cutscenes are all acted wonderfully. iirc the actors all recorded their lines in the same booth so the dialogue has a natural flow to it. The small cast really lends itself to the more character driven story. You'll get to know each member of your party really well by the end. Definitely give it a go if you're into horror games and/or RPGs. Pretty short for an RPG too, only took me about 12 hours to beat it. Physical copies for it are pretty pricey, but there's other [PERFECTLY LEGAL] ways of acquiring one of your own. wink wink nudge. Koudelka RULES, and I wish more games went for the gothic horror JRPG feel. Shadow Hearts is another big favorite of mine too. I did like how you could build each character the way you wanted to, though I think most people have Koudelka be the mage, Edward be the tank, and James as the buffer/backup healer.

There are definitely more popular games I could list but I had a really great time playing 'Mother of Many' It's got incredible atmosphere and visual design! I had a really great time with my short playthrough of it, highly recommend if you like horror-ish elements to your media

Earlier this year, I was really blown away by Granblue Fantasy Relink. The best way I can think of to describe it is that the campaign felt like it did everything that made Kingdom Hearts work, then the postgame effectively takes what's compelling about grinding mobile games and moves it away from all the monetization nonsense that infests mobile games.
