Zdzislaw Beksinski There's something moving about his art. It's eerie and dark, but I've personally never found it scary so much as deeply melancholic. It reminds me of dreams I remember having.

My absolute favourite (surprise, surprise) is Growl, so gotta rep her first.
Beyond that: - Aaron Blaise was the first artist whose style I wanted to replicate
- Cassy Draws blew me away today with her hyper-realistic acrylic paintings
- Drachenmagier's incredible grasp of lighting & fantastical paintings are a wonder to behold
- Denise Soden was pivotal in rekindling my interest in watercolours!
I'm sure there's plenty of others that I'll remember later, too

Those are some lovely paintings imo. I personally enjoy the works of -Latrans (FA) the most, and there are a bunch of elements to them that just build together in a unique and expressive way: But I love J. C. Leyendecker’s works as well, one of the few ‘human-focused’ artists whose works I could start at for hours:

When it comes to real-life painters, I am very biased towards the Golden Age of Finnish art (which is what I research in my uni). They barely make it into the Modern movement of art, but I feel like they deserve a mention! Two favorite artists are Galen-Kallella and Werner Holmberg (images are in respective order).
When it comes to still-alive artists though... Aleksander Rostov which made Disco Elysium is peak in my opinion.

This painting is really something, the original is enormous as well (2.5Mx2M). The composition is insane, the color scheme is insane, the rendering of the silk is incredible, AND it features a dog. What's not to love.... I can't count how many times I have been to the museum housing this piece for the single purpose of staring at it, jaw dropping everytime

I love love love Trenton Doyle Hancock. From the art21 profile about him Very much the type of artist that is a furry and just doesn't realize it. Or maybe he does and we just don't know. At Stake, 2024 Acrylic and mixed media on canvas The Second to the Last Big Hurrah: Symphony Masquerades as War, 2006 mixed media on canvas Choir, 2003 Mixed media on canvas The Legend is in Trouble, 2001 Mixed media on canvas This next one is my absolute favorite of his, I think about it quite regularly. You Are A Liar And The Truth Is NOT In You, 2010 Acrylic and mixed media on canvas

I like Kaneoya Sachiko. Choosing just one art piece to show what they do feels limitating to me so I'll just leave the portfolio here, it's easily browsable even if fully japanese yoiko-yokochou.com/index.htmlApart from the beautiful chaotic backgrounds I like the constantly tired but still manic-looking characters and the way colour is rendered in their traditional media with acrylics is on point. Then all the little tiny toon animal charas with Astro Boy's face, so weird and charming I also like Hajime Sorayama, the classic scifi aesthetic of his robot characters is unmatched along with the obvious fascination for his ability to render shiny chrome in traditional media This is airbrushed, for heaven's sake Lastly that comes to mind at the moment, Christian Lease Lassen for his depiction of waterscapes and acquatic creatures in dreamy compositions. To me it feels like a more relaxed but equally colorful Lisa Frank evolution There are definitely more in my fav list but these three come to mind at the moment xD
