Does anyone here have any ambient music suggestions? I know just ‘ambient’ is a wiiide range of different possible ambient music genres but I’m still really curious which ones are you alls favorites! Especially since I am looking for more to listen to.

To the surprise of (probably) absolutely no one, I really like Dungeon Synth, and you know what? There's absolutely no false advertising with that genre name. It sounds exactly like what you'd imagine a genre named Dungeon Synth to sound like: dark fantasy/medieval music played on a Casio/MIDI keyboard.

cant go wrong with the skyrim soundtrack if you want moody ambiance. i could listen to secunda for hours lol
otherwise im a sucker for jazz music with the sound of rain/a fireplace crackling in the background. you can find tons of playlists on youtube of them and theyre great.

Ooh ambient. That's... a lot to choose from. I'll try to pick a few instrumentals (mainly ones I've been listening to recently).
Koresma - Turquoise Emancipator - Alligator (Good Lee remix) Emancipator - Bombilla Tycho - Green Hammock - Reverence

Hakita has some good ambient/drone stuff. This piece in particular really grabbed me when I wasn't expecting it to.

oh man, ambient music, i spend a lot of time here and it is in fact a deep well with a lot of different internal genres. with ambient music i tend to favor albums as a whole instead of individual tracks. its the music im most likely to want to collect on physical media. the opening track 'the boat was my friend' is one of my favorites tracks. its so evocative to me in the imagery and space its crafts, but the whole album is great. penpals forever and ever is another great album from svarte greiner if you like the above, its not on spotify and is a little harder to find so ill include it here.
pavilion of dreams by harold budd is special album to me. its one of those i put on when i need to remember what peace feels like. Bismillahi 'Rrahmani 'Rrahim (the above) and Rosetti Noise/Chrystal Garden are my favorites. also going to give an honorary shout out to the cocteau twins album the moon and the melodies, in which harold budd was a collaborator. its another all time favorite album, though not strictly ambience. with pavilion of dreams in mind, you can really hear him in the ghost has no home and memory gongs, which are amazing ambient/instrumental pieces.
popol vuh has so many excellent tracks and albums, i frequently put the whole discography on shuffle on spotify. this track is a favorite but i also recommend the album agape agape from them (with they danced, they laughed, as of old being a favorite).
very different from the other albums ive shared but if you like things in the fantasy/dungeon synth realm flies the coop by hole dweller is a staple and a must. this album is a package deal for me, i love it all the way through
this album definitely falls into ambience but also branches away with its roots stemming from dark wave/gothic rock territory (pieter nooten was highly involved with clan of xymox and collaborated with michael brook on this album ((and michael brook collaborated with harold budd (((its all coming together)))) im sharing it because i rarely have the opportunity to do so and i think its excellent. this track, searching (goes wild for that xylophone), and suddenly I are my favorites from the album.
i could keep going but ill make myself stop here. hi, i like music haha in retrospect ive strayed from strictly ambient quite a bit and moved more into instrumental but ill leave it as is. im excited to listen to what people have been sharing!

To the surprise of (probably) absolutely no one, I really like Dungeon Synth[...] Are you the reason this stuff has been popping up in my feed lately? I wish I was more familiar with albums and artists, but I tend to listen to channels during the day, since I'm almost always at a computer. If you're looking for calming/relaxing stuff, Relaxing Guitar Music, Lofi Cat, and help me tend to do a good job for me. If staying awake and focused is more the goal, then Max Cooper and Psybrations can usually keep me going without becoming distracting.

Im gonna listen now :3 Thank you to everyone for the suggestions, im excited to check them out! Its what ive been listening to the most lately. Terrible Animal: I absolutely second playing entire albums when it comes to this genre so I appreciate what youve sent here. Im gonna peep these tomorrow when I start a new painting 8) everything youve sent sounds extremely up my alley, im particular excited to listen to the last one and the second one judging by your descriptions.

@creeps im so glad, i hope you enjoy! i always love sharing and talking about music--dont mind me if i end up adding a few more things meowmax i regularly mute the music in other games and instead play skyrim tracks over it because its a superior atmosphere lmao that and just listening to it casually a lot. i can however do without the battle tracks, theyre the only thing that keep me from listening to the album all the way through hahah

creeps - Dungeon Synth is something I didn't know I wanted until I found it, then I realised I had been missing it all my life. meowmax - Seconding the Oblivion soundtrack. Absolutely beautiful work. Are you the reason this stuff has been popping up in my feed lately? Yes. I cast a spell to directly affect your youtube algorithm. I am a wizard after all @ Terrible Animal - I prefer albums as well. Finding out that music is now assigned an 'Album Age' (that is over apparently) was insane to me. An album I have on vinyl (a really quite amazing gatefold) is Tomita's Bermuda Triangle. I'm not sure if it's technically ambient, but it's nice to listen to in the dark. EDIT.Also, I feel directly targeted by the 'Hole Dweller' album

Brian Eno and Harold Budd together have such amazing works such as Ambient 2: The Plateaux of Mirror or Ambient 1: Music for AirportsTheir whole discography (Budd's the most) is pretty much ambient music. They are both pretty well known, but if you haven't you should give their music a try! I'll try to look for others. I had a playlist full of ambient music, but I don't know where it is anymore.

Weaver hole dweller is so much fun, i have that album on vinyl and cassette! i also have the stuff i recommended by svarte greiner on cd, but i want everything i shared on physical media. i think my interest in the whole album and my interest in physical media are directly linked. its hard to skip tracks, so i want to love it in its entirety. theres something about loving a track in its full context that is different, and its definitely something lost in digital spaces ill give that a listen!
