Cons you've been to?

When I lived in Maryland:

I'd like to start going to some again, but I have been kinda scared to.

In the social media age, they seem to have changed a lot, and it's harder to meet people 'on the spot', like you used to do, irl, say by striking up a conversation or what not. I don't usually know anyone going to cons, and it seems that now in particular, people have these long lists of friends and artists that they HAVE to see, and lacking that, I worry I'd feel kinda lost. Or not so much lost, as longing to hang out with a few good friends, and not having to worry about meeting Tooty-Ba-Footy Famous Fox^tm, and all that (My close fur friends are mostly in Europe, so it is hard to meet at cons, $ wise.)

That said, I am looking at going to a smaller con coming up, across the lake in Milwaukee...I figure this will be a good way to kind of dip my toes in again. Maybe some other furs in a similar boat have some advice, have not been to a con since the pandemic.
