I operate a risograph and also have experience in traditional printmaking techniques (relief, monotype, intaglio, screen printing) curious if we have any other real print heads out here. I don't get up to a lot of printmaking besides relief and monotype since I don't have access to print facilities. Doing a lot of wacky shit with my riso, including making monotypes from the used masters.
I love seeing furry art that exists in the physical world beyond just digitally printed merch. There is something very special about a handmade object. I would love to share resources on how to do at-home printmaking with anyone interested.

I do! It's the only form of traditional art I'm super confident in. I mainly do block printing on linoleum, but lately I've been experimenting in cyanotype printing. My majors currently are Chemistry and Art History & Museum Studies so cyanotype just PERFECTLY combines the chem nerd in me with the art nerd in me. I did a wolf print a year or so ago when i first started out, and a borzoi print before that. I'll have to see if I can find pictures of those. Currently I'm working on a cyanotype that's....going to be complicated, and a linocut of a wrestling oc of mine!
Anyway, I LOVE printmaking, and it's amazing to see another furry up to it!!

I like to use the Speedball Professional Relief ink since it's oil based but made to clean up with soap and water so you don't have to mess with mineral spirits or other hazardous solvents. For carving tools the Speedball carving set is great to start, I eventually upgraded to a Power Grip carving set.

I've been looking into printmaking as of last month but like one of the previous posters I've only dabbled in linoleum carve prints (as I was taught how to do those in middle school)

Super curious what kind of Riso machine you have? I used to have an older one in my studio in vancouver, and did a lot of experimental Riso printing during both my degrees, totally love it. Been wanting to soon print a book with offset, but still waiting on a project to bubble up that would justify it...

Been wanting to soon print a book with offset, but still waiting on a project to bubble up that would justify it... I have an SF5130 that I got refurbished at Hallagans in Chicago. I mainly do books on it but I've done some prints where I just layer up different prints in the same color. I rotate out different key colors, just switched out from hunter green to federal blue, and I'll probably do a dark red next. I really want to save up for a second drum so I can start rotating out spot colors and getting some really wacky color combos.
If you aren't familiar you should check out Cram Books, they do really gorgeous riso books, the main Cram anthology series is like 5 colors??? Crazy books to look at
