For those unfamiliar, Arcane is an animated steampunk action-adventure show based in the League of Legends universe, produced by the French animation studio Fortiche. You don't need to know anything about the League of Legends setting to fully enjoy the story it's telling. It's the pinnacle of adult animation, some of the best the medium has to offer, nobody else is doing it like they are, your life might be changed by watching it. Please check it out if any of that sounds interesting to you! (and even if the League of Legends part makes you uninterested. I promise promise promise with all my heart you can just pretend LoL doesn't exist when you watch it and it'll be just the same. signed, an ex-LoL player)
So with that out of the way, who all here is a fan of Arcane? What do you all think of season 2 so far? Who's your favorite character, what do you think about their appearance in the show? WHAT DO YOU THINK IS GONNA HAPPEN NEXT WEEK? Please make judicious use of the spoiler tag in this thread, particularly for season 2 discussion.
For me this entire show is like a buffet. A feast for the eyes and the ears and the heart. Far and away though my favorite character has gotta be Silco. I've got a framed art print that I watched Jason Spisak sign live on stream on my wall  But honestly all of the characters are written so well. I'm a big fan of what they've done with Viktor, too. but I'll leave it there for now instead of dumping all of my thoughts into the OP. |

ARCANE MENTION ARCANE MENTION dude. i make no exaggeration when I say that this show is absolute EYECANDY, especially from the perspective of someone who works with both 2D and 3D!! it would be an absolute DREAM to get to work with the studios behind it, potentially on future projects with similar styles.
story aside (though I don't mean that in a bad way at ALL, nonono, the story has me IN A CHOKEHOLD), i could gush about the animation, environments, the hybrids between 2D and 3D in places, the small details, OOOGHG.H,.,. Arcane has been a huge inspiration to me and many of my dream projects, including one I've been slowly chipping away at for the past 6+ months.
i will always love Arcane, I would've never expected the LoL people to produce something so breathtaking. I've been vibrating with anticipation to watch the new season but I'm waiting to rewatch a bit of S1 with my partner before we go onto S2

I just watched season one and two in the span of three days? I had already seen the first three episodes of season one when It came out with a friend, and then right after had a fall-out, so I didn't continue watching because it gave me war flashbacks. But now after finally binging it I'm SO glad I did, from the beginning I knew it was a great show, from the animation to the writing, and I'm happy I got to experience it and letting go of that personal bad feeling I had. Incoming s2 spoilers (kinda): Besides how fucking stunning the series is, from top to bottom (adc), the characters are written SO well, I didn't expect myself to get so attached to Silco's and Jinx's relationship like I did. I cried at the season 1 finale, and I teared up a little more at the start of season 2. It's so beautifully messed up, but so genuine in a way as well. I love when it's not such a black and white picture, despite how toxic their relationship was, the father/daughter aspect of it, and the love they shared despite it all just does something to me. I could talk about it all day, and I'm still not over it. And uggh season 2 has been so great so far, maybe better than 1?? Though I think they're both good in their own right. I'm probably gonna rewatch s2 again before the drop of the next (last?) three episodes  |

It's my favoritw show ... it's so visualöy stunning and I really love how the characters are written. Can't wait for the last episodes of s2 but I dont want it to be over...

Big agree here, the depth of their characters and dynamic and everything is a big reason why Silco is such a big hit for me too. I like Awful Little Guys as it is, but he's so much more than that. The more you learn about him, the deeper the hooks sink in, man. I've been thinking the same thing, that season 2 is better than season 1. S1 has Silco and everything but S2 is just HITTING SO HARD..... it's tough to say right now. Will have to see how the last three episodes play out before I can make a final verdict. It's my favoritw show ... it's so visualöy stunning and I really love how the characters are written. Can't wait for the last episodes of s2 but I dont want it to be over... Right? Part of me is like "How are there still 3 episodes, so much is happening!!", and another part of me never wants it to end because it's so good. So far it's being paced really well, and I think three more episodes is going to be exactly the right amount to tell their story. I think I'd rather have less Arcane and it ends perfectly than more Arcane and watch it kinda splutter out and die once the writers run out of ideas for it.
If anything, I would love to see this team tackle some more LoL stories! There's SO MUCH lore. Like there's already so much depth of world building in Arcane and it's just scratching the surface of the world it's in. I played the game a LONG time ago, back when it was still new and there were only like a dozen characters, and the characters were just "Minotaur, but purple" and "What if a mummy was a little kid who was really sad and cried a lot?" and "big scary werewolf"... even though I've not played in years I still kinda check in on it every now and then, and it's changed so much, it's wild. I'm not sure if they started rewriting the game's lore to match the show or if they were already in the process of doing that anyway and that turned into Arcane, because Warwick is a much older character than Jinx or Vi. and I remember Vi used to have a really different look and general tone too.
But I'd only want to see that happen if they can think of a really good story to tell with it. Arcane isn't just a visual retelling of the events of the lore or whatever, there's some real commentary on human nature type stuff too that anybody can relate to, think about, and learn from. That's the best way to go about it, I think.

Considering the source of inspiration, I'm really curious what you're cooking 👀 You're definitely in for a treat once you get to s2!! not yet, but I'm bound to soon 👀 it doesn't sound too generic if i simply describe it as "everything warrior cats was afraid to be but put the cast in a post apocalyptic setting", does it? the story has been slowly developing in my mind since 2018 and I only recently really picked it back up in the past two or three years and its been living- No. Partying rent free in my head ever since. I had also learned quite a bit of Blender in that time too, so I finally decided to try and start something on it.
I'd talk about it more but I don't wanna clog up this thread too much, maybe I'll make my own in one of the art boards. I can ping you if you want when I do  |

RAAA ARCANE DISCUSSION finished act 2 a couple of days ago and omg i still feel so hollow it is SO refreshing to watch something that is clearly so made with love (even if the animators/artists HURT US WITH ANY ITTY BITTY DETAIL...dont remind me ;_; ) the story and everything is so good...i really hope they expand to Bilgewater (I NEED TO SEE PYKE ANIMATED PLEAAASEEE MY LIFE IS YOURS RIOT) i really cant wait for act 3 (not ready but ready™️) SOOO JEALOUS butterball that is such a gorgeous print ough.,. |
