Hey everyone, It's the weekend and it's got me feeling in a certain mood. So let's have a spooky stories/encounters thread. UFOs/UAPs, cryptids, ghosts/hauntings, ESP, high strangeness, the anomalous, urban legends, perhaps just some weird folklore that's not very well-known outside of your area, or just some rumor/story that you know of. Bonus points if it's a personal story, but don't matter; feel free to also share maybe something you've come across and wanna expound on. Can't wait to see what you guys post!

Oh man, I have quite a few weird experiences. Nothing too crazy, but definitely weird. Here’s one though! I live pretty close to Bachelors Grove Cemetery which is less of a Cemetery at this point and more of just a trail in the forest preserve. I went with a buddy back in highschool, just in the day time so we could park in the lot for the forest preserve across the street. We didn’t want to risk getting towed or fined for going at night. It was mostly uneventful, but we did go off trail and got a little lost for awhile. There was a clearing with logs set up as seating, it sort of reminded me of like church pews? We ended up finding our way back and stopped for a bit while standing by some of the old grave stones. I took a panoramic picture of my buddy on my phone, which was mostly normal, except in the corner of the photo with him there was like… a shadow? And it looked, to me at least, like someone was peeking into the photo next to him. No features or anything, like a fog in the shape of a persons head? I wish I still had the picture, but that was many phones ago and I’ve always been bad about backing up my pictures and would just accept they were gone forever if my phone broke lol.

That is so scarily accurate to stereotypical teen horror stuff it's crazy.
I have two stories:
1. Scary story: When I was really little, like we're talking high chair little, I would see and talk to ghosts all the time. My parents would ask me who I'm speaking to, and I'd be like "the nice lady over there!" and point at a completely empty space. It sounds like a cute "imaginary friend" story until they asked me the names of the ghosts, and I'd say the names of their own relatives who passed away long before I was born, and whom they had never told me about, since I was too young to understand the concept of death. They then showed me pictures of those relatives shortly before they died, and I'd say, "yeah, they look like that, but less old." I haven't done that in over 20 years and don't remember it at all, but because of it my mom is completely convinced that ghosts exist.
2. Funny story: Once a few years ago when my dad was about to drive me somewhere, while going between the house and the car, I heard the Addams family theme song playing very loudly from nearby. It sounded like someone very close by had blasted the song from their car or something, but I couldn't figure out where. My dad didn't hear it, and he is hard of hearing, but it was so loud that it didn't make sense for him not to hear it. I was haunted by the spirit of the Addams family for the rest of the night. I never got an answer.

The church where my scout troop held meetings was firmly in the "haunted" category, and I and the other boys there would rather regularly have encounters with things in the hallways. We only really used one side of the building, but passing through the front lobby you could see up the stairwell on the other side, and as long as you were 1) alone and 2) standing a decent distance away, good chance you'd see the headless black lab sitting at the top over there. Once or twice, the adults would also see it, so it wasn't just kids' imaginations running wild in the late evening. And, all the various back rooms in the building often held...other things. The lab never gave off the sensation of being troublesome or dangerous, but the black shadows and faint red eyes that would flit around the dark were a different story. No one was ever particularly willing to be the first person in a room to turn on the lights (or the last turning them off), and heading to the printer on the other side of the building on your own was about the most terrifying thing you could do because it would always be dark, lots of open doors into other dark rooms, and with that the constant sensation of "something is watching me" from those side areas. Never mind the few times we dared go exploring into the main chapel hall itself...

This one's interesting to me, because it's similar to a lot of claims your can find on paranormal boards (for example 4chan's /x/) of users claiming that, as children, they remember a fictional character(s) appearing to them or something of the sort. I recently read one that was of a user claiming as a kid he saw some cartoon character from the living room window (Bugs Bunny, maybe Rabbit from Winnie the Pooh, unsure) beckoning him to come outside, and it made him cry, which caused his parents to show up and at which the thing disappeared. Subsequently, he remained for the rest of his childhood uncomfortable around that cartoon - not terrified, or traumatized, just uncomfortable.

this sounds so dumb in retrospect, but it kind of freaked me out at the time...
when i lived in europe i didn't have a dryer or a drying rack so i would just hang my wet clothes to dry on the stair railing in my bedroom (it was like a little loft apartment thing). one night i had all the lights off and i heard something like fabric falling to the floor and i thought something had slid off, so i got up to hang it back up again so it could dry.
turned on the lights, nothing was on the floor so i figured i was just hearing things while falling asleep. it happened 4-5 more times, there'd be a really distinct 'fwump' of cloth falling to the ground but none of my clothes were slipping off of the railing. it really bothered me, i checked the whole apartment over and nothing was wrong/amiss so i just went to bed after a while. like i said, it sounds so silly now that i type it out but really freaked me out at the time.

Ooh, that sounds really disconcerting to me.
I think this is mostly because I myself have stopped using a dryer for clothes (it ruins them), and as such, I also will hang wet clothes on a rack in my living room. If I kept hearing the sound of wet clothes falling off, hitting the hardwood floor, and seeing nothing out of order whenever I'd check, I would also be unnerved.

I'll add with my own encounter, was around 2015 or 2016. UFO encounter.
Was driving down the desert with one other person, nighttime. Fairly rural area.
From the horizon on the passenger side emerges a set of lights, moving rapidly. In a few seconds, it's passing right over us. There was no noise, no sound; it appears like it's very, very close to the car. It's a set of four lights, arrayed in a triangular composition: three at the edges, one in the center. They're blue, red (pinkish), white. There's possibly the silhuouette of something behind the lights, but can't make anything certain out.
It passes over us and disappears into the mountains on the horizon, this time to the driver's side of the car. The whole thing lasted around ten (10) seconds.
I added a picture of the classic "triangular UFO" type, since it resembles most what I witnessed, albeit the colors of the lights are not the same.
