SPYRO! Who else here loves Spyro? Which series is your favorite? Are you a fan from the OG era? An Enter the Dragonfly apologist? Maybe you got really into roleplaying or fanfic writing during the Legend of Spyro series, or you're totally new and you've only gotten to play the Reignited Trilogy? Spyro the Dragon was one of my favorite games growing up, and to this day I still love it and replay the first three games. I think the only Spyro games I didn't own at one point were Season of Flame and the Crash Bandicoot crossover one for the GBA (I really didn't like Season of Ice so I didn't ask for the later ones), and Shadow Legacy for the DS, because I figured it'd be just sort of bad like the GBA ones. But nothing tops the OG trilogy for me. My enthusiasm for the Reignited Trilogy has cooled a little bit, but it was the reason my husband and I bought a PS4. The gameplay is pretty good, but where it really shines for me is the redesigns for the dragons, and I feel like most furries would agree with me there. My personal favorite out of the new bunch is Hexus. I have a thing for WILFs :^)
I also have a character in the Reignited style! I originally made her back in 2019 or so not long after Reignited dropped but I revamped her this year leading up to Art Fight. She's an Artisan whose specialty is carving semiprecious stones into forms like animals and stuff, to be used as decor or as magical tools. Like the ones you see at vendor halls carved into Pokemon and Toothless and stuff lmao. I like to think one of her parents was a Dream Weaver maybe. I sort of ship her with Hexus but I've been too busy/lazy to draw indulgent ship art about it

Honestly I think Spyro Year of the Dragon is one of my earliest gaming memories , I went to an after school daycare of sorts and they had 4 tv stations set up with playstations and I'd dig the (probably heavily scratched tbh lol) disc out of a container and continue my gameplay everyday till I beat it
I ended up getting my own playstation and ended up playing some of the later games ? But I have a very hard time remembering them so I'm guessing they weren't that good lol.
I really liked the remake, I did a 100% playthrough on xbox and then bought it on steam, still working my way towards 100%ing there I got a bit distracted lol. The dragon redesigns are so good.. I'm an easy victim of furry bait designs
Really love your oc design, I never thought about having a spyro oc I don't think I've seen one before ! Mainly just fanart of the redesigns or spyro

i used to play one of the spyro games on the game cube as a kid all the time.. couldn't tell you which game specifically but i loved it so much. spyro is like an old friend to me, i don't actively play the games or anything but i still love him.

I got interested in Spyro when I saw the edgy Legend of Spyro AMVS as a kid, lol. I was a little too young for those games back then, but the spinoff Skylanders came out at exactly the right time for me. Cynder was and will always be my favorite.

not me leaving Skylanders out of the thread OP because I totally forgot it was originally a Spyro game... ๐ that's another one that I never had, actually. kind of a combination of feeling like I was too old for it and not liking Spyro's redesign in that series. It's a really cool concept, though! I liked the other dragon designs from that game better than I liked the Spyro xP

That either would've been Enter the Dragonfly or A Hero's Tail. Hero's Tail is generally considered the better of the two... but I never beat either of them My Enter the Dragonfly playthrough had some kind of bug and I just got stuck in Hero's Tail Really love your oc design, I never thought about having a spyro oc I don't think I've seen one before ! Thank you! I love making OCs for things. Sometimes they're for roleplay but often the roleplay never happens and they just end up existing as a ref sheet and that's it

Lol yeah, I don't blame you. In retrospect, Spyro kinda did look like a pug with that flattened face lmao. I was still a kid and super into action figures so I was the right audience for it lol. They did have really cool character designs for the other dragons! Besides Cynder, I also loved Whirlwind and Flashwing. not me leaving Skylanders out of the thread OP because I totally forgot it was originally a Spyro game... ๐ that's another one that I never had, actually. kind of a combination of feeling like I was too old for it and not liking Spyro's redesign in that series. Definitely Skylanders for me as well, I was a bit too young for the original Spyro games. Spyro was one of my favorite characters, so you could imagine my hype when I discovered there was a whole series based on him.
