Hello everyone!
Seeing people still making forums makes this grey muzzle very happy. Hopefully this will be a nice respite for people who want to get out of blast of the fire-hose that the internet has become.
I hope this is a success, and after the flurry of initial activity a community can form.

i'm also hoping for this forum to have some longevity! there's really some appeal to the slower pace of forums... at the very least it's a great way to discover new artists! no more algorithms! yippee!!

One thing I kind of want is a smaller artistic clique to form. So things sort of 'find their way' on to the larger net from a group somewhat isolated (perhaps not the best word to use) from the hubbub.
Sort of like a project I'm working on with some others (A VN) that will 'come from' a place of its own.
I've wanted a sort of 'Furry Inklings' for a while.

Welcome! I'm in a similar boat. A firehose is a pretty apt comparison to how the internet can some days.
I wish I had bookmarked it or something, but months ago I saw a tumblr post of an old-fashioned desktop computer desk with all the cubbies and shelves and stuff, and it said something to the effect of, "We used to respect the home computer." Followup comments included "The Internet used to be a Place that we could leave when we were done for the day." I still remember, even if just barely, the days when the Internet was just a place where I spent a few (or more) hours of my day, but once I was off the computer, it didn't have any sort of sway on my offline life. I've been missing those days more and more lately.

I'll caveat this with an acknowledgment up-front that I tend to be more emotional than is healthy for me, but I literally teared up at the title and OP of this thread. This is the digital environment I grew up with, and was introduced to the fandom through, and I have missed it dearly.
At this stage of life, I'm too much of a pessimist to trust it will last, but a most heartfelt thanks and blessings to whoever had the crazy idea to set it up. I needed this, if even just for a moment. Thank you.

And yes, it did used to be that the internet was somewhere you went to, and not a thing that seemed to follow you around.
