Who all is going? This will be my first time attending such a large convention, and I'd love to hear about everyone's experiences, what to expect, or anything I should prepare for?

MFF is my home con, but I’ll probably only make a day trip of it this year! Not sure if I’m going Friday or Saturday yet. I started going in 2014 I think? And it has grown. So. Much. It can honestly be a little overwhelming, but I have a soft spot for it since it was my first con, and since I’m local it’s easy to get to.
I feel it definitely has party con atmosphere, but I’ve never personally had any issues finding somewhere to just chill or get downtime. Dealers den can feel pretty cramped, but honestly I’ve never had much of an issue with that either.
Definitely bring water and snacks or non perishable food items for meals if you can because the food/restaurant selection is…. Not stellar. A lot of stuff you have to drive to get to or order delivery and it gets pricy. If you are driving though, it’s not a far drive at least. But def not ideal.

This is my problem with FWA now 8’) love it and always will (not my home con but I do drive to it a state over) but yeah I dooo prefer those mid size cons honestly. Im not a huge fan of crowding but I can tolerate it

Im not a huge fan of crowding but I can tolerate it I feel you! Big cons are fun and all but it can be soooo difficult to meet with people or coordinate anything. I’d love to branch out and hit up some smaller cons but haven’t quite made it happen yet. I haven’t been to FWA myself either but I’ve heard they at least have some decent and close by food options. MFF gotta get at least like some food trucks or something cuz dang ;0; And I will definitely be hitting up your table for some goodies and to thank you for getting this forum started 👀

I hadnt even thought of the food situation, I appreciate you bringing that up. This will be my first time attending a convention for an entire weekend, i'll definitely need to bring my best water bottle and some food. i'm so excited though! my wallet is crying just thinking about the dealer's den x.x

I feel like I also always find new great artists to follow too. And as for food again, I honestly can’t remember if the rooms have mini fridges… it’s been so long since I actually stayed the entire weekend for mff. But if they do at least your options for food are a bit better than just protein bars and pb&j haha. Another good thing to bring is vitamins/aspirin/etc. Probably some hand sani… 🤔 I hope you have a great time!

I'll be there! MFF is my home con as well, I had a difficult time there last year since the size of the event and layout of Rosemont are both draining to deal with. Luckily, this year I'm having the friends that I'm most excited to see staying in my apartment, or in the same neighborhood of the city as me. A little bit of "we have MFF at home". I'm also planning to spend some time at the BHOP Ball, a rhythm game tournament in Vernon Hills happening the same weekend. Lots to look forward to, going to try not to wear myself out as bad as I did last year!
(Protip: If you have access to a car, load up on snacks at Mitsuwa before heading to the con. Nothing saves the day like onigiri and canned coffee.)

And the snacks and meals there will absolutely be better AND better priced than the ready to go meals/restaurants at the con.
