Would it be too much of a problem to rush early game? Or would I be too lost? Because I wouldn't mind getting a bit lost if I'm enjoying the gameplay... Did you like rush it then made a new character to replay early game? honestly, i never went back and fully read the early game...LOL.... there's a few things here and there that will come up, but the overall story didn't suffer *too* much in my opinion. i just put 2 and 2 together and that got me by fine. but like you said, if you get interested, you can always revisit the story! there's even a new game+ feature that will let you replay the story on your main character without making an alt if you so desire. |

I haven't had much of a problem in doing any of it, it's all just kind of laborious but if I do need help (because I am not much of a gamer and I did get close to dying/getting lost more than I should've in the first dungeon) I'll post it here!!! Yeah the early game is slow since you're not going to have a lot of essential traveling options like mounts or the ability to fly - the biggest boon I can offer you is actually taxiing you to the quest objectives. The expansions somewhat solve this issue by making all of the areas more cohesive. As you progress through the main story, you'll also unlock a lot of side content, like Grand Company missions, the Gold Saucer, Treasure Hunts, Job Upgrades, other classes, etc., so you'll pretty much always have something to do! Though as Wolp said, totally fine to just rush through ARR and revisit it via New Game+. |

I LOVE FFXIV!!!!!!!!!! I'm Catboy Craig on Hyperion! I play a hrothgar red mage! I am working on getting reaper to max level right now! I just finished the FFXI raid and as a fan I LOVED it! Stoked for more! when i started i couldn't get into it, skipped most of the early story, and then stopped playing for months until my friend encouraged me to give it another shot. early game feels like a slog, unfortunately. dungeons are a little wack, and you've got practically no skills to use. Would it be too much of a problem to rush early game? Or would I be too lost? Because I wouldn't mind getting a bit lost if I'm enjoying the gameplay... Did you like rush it then made a new character to replay early game?
The beginning of the game is pretty slow. My suggestion is to bumrush the main scenario to max level on one job until the story and gameplay click for you. Don't bother doing sidequests unless it has the "special quest" marker. Shadowbringers is when the plot kicks into high gear. ShB + Endwalker is peak fiction. |

I freaking love that expansion so much. I love the story, the music, the themes, DRK getting the spotlight! I could just go on and on about how much I love it. But I won't because spoilers and its best to experience the story first-hand. |

Just got Reaper to 93, loving the rotation and aesthetic a lot and might make it my new main. I've also been going couch-mode with the steamdeck and learning to play on controller, it honestly feels like a completely different game. Waaaay easier to hit the flank and back attacks.
Also! I wanna see your guys's glamours! I'll post mine in a bit, I've got some really cute/slutty healer gear. Most of my joy of playing this game is finding armor sets my hrothgar looks cute/sexy/handsome in. :3

Shadowbringers is peak fiction, but it's also a hard sell since it's so many expansions in. It definitely has the biggest payoff if you've been playing since 1.0 or ARR. Definitely a unique experience. I find the villain to be so well-written, because you can simultaneously understand exactly where he's coming from and sympathize with him, but also understand that there's absolutely no solution for him that isn't morally reprehensible. It takes a lot to setup to create a set of circumstances to make that work... Like, SO much context, but they take full advantage of it. It's like the narrative equivalent of how Shuckle can mathematically deal the highest possible damage in Pokemon, but only under extremely specific circumstances. Mixed feelings on Endwalker though. On the one hand it has a lot of emotional payoff for 1.0 players/rememberers, but on the other hand, I feel like parts of it kind of retroactively weaken the impact of Shadowbringers. It's good but it's more of a mixed bag. |
