Heya, seeing who else here likes playing the funny Warrior of Light game!
I'm Dahlia Lattier on Excalibur (Primal), I like playing most of the combat jobs and try to mix things up when I can.
Anyway, 7.1 just dropped, and with it some interesting skill changes and a return to the past with the new Alliance Raid series, which was definitely cool to see as someone who used to play FFXI way back when.

Yippee!!! My main is on Goblin/Crystal (already in an FC so I'm not looking) but I love the game! And I do have quite a bit of lore for my WoL who is a precious cat boy.
I haven't been caught up with MSQ because of life happening to me right as I was doing it. No joke I'm at the final trial for main Dawntrail and I haven't had the time to finish cause I'm running it with my partner and her WoL and she gets busy too. Our WoLs' character dynamic is that of adoptive siblings. Mainly because they just would not vibe as a couple and my WoL has a husband lol. But my partner's WoL is shipped to G'raha and I adore themb.
Yeah I'm mainly hooked to the WoL lore side of the game. Tho I also enjoy making glams, being DRK trash, and just having a nice time running around.

Its in his lore that he is a massive botany nerd so Island Sanctuary was just absolutely perfect for him. Tho sadly, me the player forgets about it a lot but in lore he spends a lot of time on his little island sanctuary.

I've still not finished the MSQ of the latest expansion (even before patches) because I always do stuff for the first time with my husband and we've been really busy this year and just not had free time at the same time to get around to it... But we've been playing together since A Realm Reborn, and I played in early 1.0 as well!
My characters are all on Balmung, and my main is Shoshopu Shopu (and was a 1.0 character! the server she was made on was merged with Balmung before 1.0 died. How fortuitous!). I used to roleplay a LOT!
I wanna get caught up really badly though, I played FFXI as well (Alraunne on Fairy) so I'm really excited to hear the raid series is FFXI themed.

The new Alliance Raid is cute, there's a lot of references to not only the world of FFXI but also the player community itself; several of the NPCs you meet are wearing popular gear like the Vermilion Cloak and the Scorpion Harness.

Been trying to work up the energy to play again. I played it so much for the past 4 years, so I burned out HARD after Dawntrail. I loved Dawntrail but jesus I really pumped a lot of hours into the game.

I usually take a couple months break between patches myself to prevent playing too much.

Guys, I need some help.
One of my friends is loves FFXIV (it's quite literally the only one they play) and I really wanted to play with them, but I don't really get it. It's not a bad game by any means, I'm just not finding where the dopamine-hitting part of the game you know?
Is it because I'm too low level to get the real good stuff? I'm on the main quest after you finish the first dungeon and it was kinda neat ngl

Would it be too much of a problem to rush early game? Or would I be too lost? Because I wouldn't mind getting a bit lost if I'm enjoying the gameplay... Did you like rush it then made a new character to replay early game?

I chose pugilist and my skills are so far pretty much just pressing 1, 2, 3, 4 in order

I chose pugilist and my skills are so far pretty much just pressing 1, 2, 3, 4 in order Trust me, it becomes a lot more dynamic later on - once you get your combo finishers and your "Riddle" skills, it becomes a lot more enjoyable. Most Pre-50 jobs and classes are pretty simple in order to give players the chance to know their abilities without being overwhelmed. If you need help clearing out some of the early content, I'm happy to help!
