Going ahead and making a thread here for my future fursuit endeavors and updates , I just recently made my first fursuit head after many hours of tutorials, pain, and hand sewing I had no sewing or craft knowledge when starting this project, I definitely wish I preshaved the fur better as I did not do well shaving on base (Also did not properly glue it down flat oops) but it's not too bad for a first attempt ! I am planning on making paws and tail at a later date, and maybe attempting a body suit ? I'll be coming back to this thread with new projects , I kind of enjoyed the process and hope to get better at it ! I am currently in the process of making a second head to maybe sell for cheap later for learning experience/feedback from a different person

I make all my own suits I can grab some WIP pics of that guy off bluesky when it comes back up, but right now I'm working on a canine head that's very similar.

Oh I love this , def would love to see the other whenever you can get it ! How do you get the carve so smooth ? I feel like no matter what I do with scissors it still is choppy lol My secret is carving almost nothing! most of these shapes were cut as flat pieces of foam, attached to the base, then I rolled over the edges and glued them down for that smooth rounded shape like you see on the forehead and muzzle. I use 2" foam for the profile of the snout (blue in this pic), 1" foam to block out rough shapes like cheeks and brows, and 1/2" foam for fine details!

I honestly might try that out the next headbase I start , I really hate carving LOL thank you for sharing !

Looks so good! This inspires me, I have zero sewing or sculpting experience but this gives me the courage to try sometime when funds and time allow :โ3

Funds were also a big part of why I attempted this, my premade suit was a resin base and it just isn't as comfortable as I liked but I didn't have the funds to commission a foam suit. I did go a bit more out there spending wise since I wanted to get things that would last for future suit making, I think I spent about 400 ? Mannequin, 3 furs (Both from sites and second hand resale from a different person), 3 minky colors, carver, foam, lining material, all that sorta stuff basically had to buy everything lol In the long run I think investing in the materials will be good, I have enough leftover to make a premade that hopefully breaks me even on the personal project !

Thatโs rad! I wish you the best on your future fursuit endeavors! Definitely would love to see updates as you progress too And yeah I think even if I did eventually save up the money to commission someone, Iโd still like to try making my own too. Thereโs just something so satisfying in creating a work of art ๐ especially one thatโs such a labor of love like a suit.

Oh they are so cute!! I love the color scheme, the colors you picked for the nose and tongue really make this one stand out in a beautifully unique way <3 I can't wait to see where you go from here!

Your new attempt already shows much more refined shapes and a clearer expression, this is going to be so good once furred and done! Which character will this be?
